Hi Everyone.

Back in July I posted about the horrendous time I'd been having at the hands of a nasty head teacher, who put me into capability procedures.

Well- after half a term of working my socks off, the good news is that he has decided I have met my targets and that the whole process is at an end!! So -officially I am now 'capable' again!
It wasn't without cost though, as two days before the meeting I had a flare which still hasn't completely setted down.

My union rep was fantastic. He was surprised by the targets which he considered 'silly' and unmeasurable, with a very short time to achieve them.
Also- he was not impressed by the fact that the procedures had not been followed correctly in the first place. He was expecting the Head to try to extend the timescale, and so was ready to fight it.

I suspect that won't be the end of it - he'll probably be quiet for a while, then find other ways to put pressure on me. I'll be ready for him though, and I've got a file full of e mails, evidence and notes. I'm not going to drop my guard.

I'm not the first one who has been targeted- but unlike other colleagues, I did all my homework and fought back. I was careful to make sure I covered my back and did everything expected so I didn't give him any reason to find fault. It was exhausting, and there were times I felt like giving up. It was worth it, though.

Thanks everyone for all the kind support I received.

Well Done Maria. I am pleased that you were strong enough to fight back. I hope the flare dies down, and the approach to the 'C' festival is rewarding.

hi Maria,

sounds like you've had an awful time of it ... so glad the outcome has come to a favourable end.

it couldn't have helped your RA at all and hope your flare settles down soon,

I am pleased to see the horrid head has backed off, no doubt to bully someone else.

I have worked for a few like this.

Nasty power hungry bits of work.

much love and support

Hi Maria,

I`m really glad you have won your battle, but sorry your efforts have resulted in a flare - hardly surprising. I worked for a really horrible Head, who simply didn`t like women. On union advice, if ever he wanted to see any lady staff members we always took someone with us - not so easy to bully when there are two of you! I wrote down every single dealing I ever had with him. made copies, and left them with my Head of House for insurance. Most of the staff did the same.

Take care,

Kathleen x

Well done Maria - so pleased for you! You have done so well under the weight of alll that pressure. I'm not surprised it brought on a flare and hope you are feeling better soon.

Thanks everyone for your kind replies.

I've been off work yesterday and today but the flare is calming now, thanks. No doubt it will be noted that I've been absent but the fact that all this stress has caused the flare has also been noted by me. And the bloods show it too- lucky I had them at the right timeSmile . I still feel quite stressed about it and it will take me a while to settle down.
What really got me most of all was the timing- hitting me with it all at the end of a difficult term, just having lost my dad. However- it's all over now, so time to move on and accept that some people are just s***s!

I guess I've been lucky with previous heads- especially having read about your experiences. It still makes me angry that there are such bullies- something that made me more determined not to let this one beat me.

I've also learned that another colleague took him to task last week over his treatment of her when she was having health and personal problems. It clearly wasn't his week!

Jenni- no doubt he will try someone else, athough I'm not getting too complacent: I'm still watching my back.

Katheen- your head sounded dreadful!

I'm just watching an interview with the tenor Russell Watson on 'Lorraine'- what he has gone through just puts my work problems in perspective.

Love to you all

Maria x
